That's why employees with Workforce Solutions of the Coastal Bend have partnered with Corpus Christi Army Depot to help veterans find a job.

This is the first time the two have met each other and they both know that finding a job can be a difficult process.

Veteran applicants are advised to come with their resume, proof of identification and a DD-214 showing that they served in the military.

He is able to share his skills with potential employers and sees C-CAD as an opportunity for growth.

"It's a great arena," Dagley said. "It will always be there, and if you join CCAD and decide you want to go somewhere else, there are possibilities outside of CCAD, but you get the great experience here with all the helicopters."

A New Commander Comes To Ccad

And the Workforce Solutions staff in Coastal Bend say they will hold the same recruitment event tomorrow at sunrise from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It will be open to everyone - not just veterans. Jill Atkins is the first female commander of the Corpus Christi Army Depot, but she hasn't let that define her.

With more than two decades of service and time at the Pentagon and Fort Bragg, Atkins took on the role of Colonel Alan Lansta just last week, but he's already getting off the ground.

We spoke with Atkins at the end of her first week about her goals, her career and being the first female leader in CCAD's nearly 60-year existence.

Atkins: It was very busy, as you can imagine. I spent a lot of time trying to understand the complexity and inclusiveness of this facility, and I had the opportunity to meet with a large number of workers, which was really the highlight of the whole week.

Atkins: A workforce leader. I want to be able to communicate with the workers so that people listen. A leader who will learn every day from the people around her and a leader who can make sure I can educate those above me about what CCAD is and what CCAD can do.

Atkins: You know, it's a difficult situation to be in to some degree, but I understand the importance of it and I hope to be an inspiration to anyone who might feel like they can't get where they want to go. Because I will tell you that being a female in the military, and especially in the United States Army, has never defined me or limited me. In the end, what I was able to bring to the fight and the value was realized and because of this, I was able to take more responsibility because I stayed in the military and I just hope that maybe it is an inspiration for Other people. Don't let anyone limit you. If you are willing to put in the energy and effort, get what you want. Accept the consequences of this, because there are so many more when you take on more responsibility, but on the same note the only thing that should limit you is your sanity and I will tell you that right now I think we are in a great place . A lot of change happens quickly. I hope we can grasp that and move on.

The Times: As the years have gone by, we've seen a lot more variety among all types of jobs. How do you think diversity affects jobs?

Atkins: You gain strength through diversity. I have over 3,370 people working with me every day and we all think differently, so there are 3,370 different solutions to a problem. How could you go wrong? So, I would tell you that it is really about being able to hear their voice and then they understand how their voice has added value. There is strength through diversity and CCAD is a great example of that.

Time: In two years, when you give up your job during a change of leadership ceremony, what do you wish you would have achieved?

Atkins: That everyone in the organization knows what they contribute and that it doesn't matter what their title is or how long they've been here, we need them or we can't do the job. It's about the workforce and the warfighter and I hope to make sure that message is known throughout the facility, the community and ultimately our leaders in the military as well.
