Hennessy is reiterating plans for the upcoming Venom F5 to hit 300 miles per hour, and founder John Hennessy believes it could eventually hit 311 miles per hour.

"Right now, our CFD tests and our engineers are saying we need 1,520 horsepower to make 300 horsepower," Hennessy told Motor Authority. "I want to do 500 km/h. It's 311, change."

Finding a place to reach that speed is a challenge. Hennessy estimates that Kennedy Space Center's runway is long enough for speeds of up to 280 mph. He believes the company needs to close the highway for a long time, similar to Koenigsegg's use of the empty Nevada road for the Agera RS to hit 277.9 mph.
The record attempt is still at least a year away. Hennessy will begin testing the Venom F5 in 2019, and high-speed testing will not begin until later in the year.
During the Monterey Auto Week, Hennessy unveiled the amazing Venom F5 engine. It's powered by a 7.6-liter twin-turbo V8 with 1,600 horsepower and 1,300 lb-ft of torque. The block is billet aluminum with a steel cylindrical sleeve. The engine sits in a Hennessy-designed chassis, and a carbon fiber body wraps around it. The company's calculations reduce the vehicle's weight by 1,360 kg, giving the exterior a drag coefficient of 0.33.
Hennessy will build just 24 units of the Venom F5 for $1.6 million each (around £1.22 at current exchange rates). 12 of them are in the US and the rest are for international customers. All American examples have the order, but according to the Hennessy Venom F5 roadster, which has a top speed of more than 300 mph, the original one-piece, carbon fiber roof panel weighs just 18. pounds.

The first official versions of the Hennessy Venom F5 Roadster were released in 2019, and after several years of waiting, the roofless supercar is here. It made its public debut on August 19 at The Quail, a motorsports gathering during Monterey Car Week.
Hennessy claims the Venom F5 Roadster is "the fastest and most powerful convertible in the world." The mid-mounted engine is a 6.6-liter twin-turbocharged V8 with 1,817 horsepower (1,355 kilowatts) and 1,193 lb-ft (1,617 Newton meters). Power is sent through a seven-speed, single-clutch semi-automatic transmission.
Hennessey claims the Venom F5 roadster has a top speed of 300 miles per hour (483 km/h). The company's previous Venom GT Spyder currently holds the record for fastest convertible at 265.6 miles per hour (427.4 km/h).
From the front, the F5 Roadster looks like a coupe. Although there's no TV, there is a one-piece, removable carbon fiber roof panel. It is insulated and has Alcantara upholstery on the inside of the cabin. This piece weighs only 18 pounds.

The roof panel comes with a merino wool travel bag. There's even a car-inspired deck to keep your records in the garage.
The rear has a new pressed glass window that allows a view of the engine. The material was originally designed for jet engines and can withstand temperatures in excess of 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit (540 degrees Celsius), Hennessey said.
The Venom F5 Roadster weighs less than 3,100 pounds (1,406 kg), Hennessey said. By comparison, the coupe weighs 2,998 pounds (1,360 kg). In general, convertibles weigh more than hardtops due to the extra rigidity that the roof mechanism and top lose.
Hennessey is making just 30 units of the Venom F5 roadster, slightly more than 24 examples of the coupe. Production will begin in late 2022 and prices will start at $3 million. By comparison, hardboard cost $2.1 million. The final round of Hennessy's Venom F5 testing focused on high-speed stability, braking and suspension testing, with veteran General Motors engineer John Henrici doing most of the driving. He is the chief engineer of the Venom F5 program.
The first of three high-speed tests has been completed ahead of the hypercar's public debut at the 2021 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance. At the time, the Venom F5 had a top speed of 200 mph. The car hit 250 mph in the second round, which ended in January.

For ultimate performance, the Venom F5 operates in F5 mode, which unleashes 1,817 horsepower and 1,193 pound-feet of torque from the car's 6.6-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 (1,542 peak horsepower on regular gas) when on E85. ..
