F-5 Top Speed - Hennessey Venom F5 Target 311 mph top speed. The Venom F5 may need to stop on the track to reach the record speed.

Hennessy is reiterating plans for the upcoming Venom F5 to hit 300 miles per hour, and founder John Hennessy believes it could eventually hit 311 miles per hour.

"Right now, our CFD tests and our engineers are saying we need 1,520 horsepower to make 300 horsepower," Hennessy told Motor Authority. "I want to do 500 km/h. It's 311, change."

Finding a place to reach that speed is a challenge. Hennessy estimates that Kennedy Space Center's runway is long enough for speeds of up to 280 mph. He believes the company needs to close the highway for a long time, similar to Koenigsegg's use of the empty Nevada road for the Agera RS to hit 277.9 mph.

The record attempt is still at least a year away. Hennessy will begin testing the Venom F5 in 2019, and high-speed testing will not begin until later in the year.

During the Monterey Auto Week, Hennessy unveiled the amazing Venom F5 engine. It's powered by a 7.6-liter twin-turbo V8 with 1,600 horsepower and 1,300 lb-ft of torque. The block is billet aluminum with a steel cylindrical sleeve. The engine sits in a Hennessy-designed chassis, and a carbon fiber body wraps around it. The company's calculations reduce the vehicle's weight by 1,360 kg, giving the exterior a drag coefficient of 0.33.

Hennessy will build just 24 units of the Venom F5 for $1.6 million each (around £1.22 at current exchange rates). 12 of them are in the US and the rest are for international customers. All American examples have the order, but according to the Hennessy Venom F5 roadster, which has a top speed of more than 300 mph, the original one-piece, carbon fiber roof panel weighs just 18. pounds.

Hennessey Venom F5 Arrives With 1,187 Hp And 311mph Top Speed

The first official versions of the Hennessy Venom F5 Roadster were released in 2019, and after several years of waiting, the roofless supercar is here. It made its public debut on August 19 at The Quail, a motorsports gathering during Monterey Car Week.

Hennessy claims the Venom F5 Roadster is "the fastest and most powerful convertible in the world." The mid-mounted engine is a 6.6-liter twin-turbocharged V8 with 1,817 horsepower (1,355 kilowatts) and 1,193 lb-ft (1,617 Newton meters). Power is sent through a seven-speed, single-clutch semi-automatic transmission.

Hennessey claims the Venom F5 roadster has a top speed of 300 miles per hour (483 km/h). The company's previous Venom GT Spyder currently holds the record for fastest convertible at 265.6 miles per hour (427.4 km/h).

From the front, the F5 Roadster looks like a coupe. Although there's no TV, there is a one-piece, removable carbon fiber roof panel. It is insulated and has Alcantara upholstery on the inside of the cabin. This piece weighs only 18 pounds.

The roof panel comes with a merino wool travel bag. There's even a car-inspired deck to keep your records in the garage.

The rear has a new pressed glass window that allows a view of the engine. The material was originally designed for jet engines and can withstand temperatures in excess of 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit (540 degrees Celsius), Hennessey said.

The Venom F5 Roadster weighs less than 3,100 pounds (1,406 kg), Hennessey said. By comparison, the coupe weighs 2,998 pounds (1,360 kg). In general, convertibles weigh more than hardtops due to the extra rigidity that the roof mechanism and top lose.

Hennessey is making just 30 units of the Venom F5 roadster, slightly more than 24 examples of the coupe. Production will begin in late 2022 and prices will start at $3 million. By comparison, hardboard cost $2.1 million. Hennessy said Wednesday that it has signed off on technical development of its Venom F5 after its hypercar made the final test run on a NASA runway at 271.6 mph. Florida.

That's close to the 282.9 mph top speed set by the SSC Tuatara in 2021, but Hennessy's ultimate goal is 311 mph, or 500 km/h for those on the metric system.

Bugatti's Chiron Super Sport 300+ clocked 304,773 mph in 2019, but that doesn't count as an official world record because Bugatti doesn't have to do the race in the opposite direction.

The final round of Hennessy's Venom F5 testing focused on high-speed stability, braking and suspension testing, with veteran General Motors engineer John Henrici doing most of the driving. He is the chief engineer of the Venom F5 program.

The first of three high-speed tests has been completed ahead of the hypercar's public debut at the 2021 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance. At the time, the Venom F5 had a top speed of 200 mph. The car hit 250 mph in the second round, which ended in January.

The Hennessey Venom F5 Could Overtake The Bugatti Chiron As The World's Fastest Road Car

For ultimate performance, the Venom F5 operates in F5 mode, which unleashes 1,817 horsepower and 1,193 pound-feet of torque from the car's 6.6-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 (1,542 peak horsepower on regular gas) when on E85. .. This mode allows the engine to spin up to 8500 rpm instead of 8200 in all other modes. Power is handled by a CIMA 7-speed single-clutch automatic manual transmission.

In addition to the disused Air Force Base, the test program included Hennessy's own Seeley, Texas, site and the U.K. The first of 24 Venom F5 hypercars was built, including the Silverstone Circuit stands.

The names "Hennessy" and "Venom" may sound familiar, but the Venom F5 is a different car than the 265 mph Venom GT, built by a new company called Hennessy Special Vehicles (HSV), separate from Hennessy Performance. The business of engineering change.

Like the Hennessey Venom GT, the production car is aiming to break the land speed record. Hennessy said it plans to continue development of the 300 mph model through the end of the year. This was later than planned because Hennessy was concentrating on building and delivering the customer's cars. Hennessy produces 12 cars per year, and only 24 cars are produced in total.

"Following the completion of the technical development of our Venom F5 hypercar, we are excited to move into a new phase with a focus on increasing utility vehicle production," said John Hennessy, Hennessy's founder and CEO. "During the final validation of the F5, we reached 270 mph, and by the end of the year we intend to continue our journey to 300 mph."

The company previously said it would consider holding high-speed races using customer cars on closed sections of the Texas highway. An alternative could be a NASA runway. Stay together.
